Coliseum Hosts NCAA Action as Storm Cleanup and Stadium Countdown Continue
Fort Wayne, IN – March 21, 2026 – NCAA Division III hoops hit the Coliseum, storm cleanup continues, and Fort Wayne FC eyes its May stadium debut.

NCAA Division III Tournament at the Coliseum
The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum is in the national spotlight this weekend as it hosts the NCAA Division III men’s basketball quarterfinals and semifinals from March 19–21. Teams from across the country are competing for a shot at the national title, bringing a boost of energy — and visitors — to the city.
The games mark one of the biggest college sporting events Fort Wayne has hosted this year, with fans filling hotels and restaurants around the Coliseum area.
Storm System Moves Out, Cleanup Ongoing
A powerful storm system that swept across parts of the Midwest earlier this week officially dissipated on March 19. While Fort Wayne avoided the worst of the blizzard conditions seen farther north, strong winds and heavy rain created scattered outages and minor debris cleanup around the region.
City crews and utility workers have been addressing downed branches and isolated power disruptions. Travel conditions have largely returned to normal heading into the weekend.
Fort Wayne FC Stadium Set for May Debut
Looking ahead, anticipation continues to build for the opening of Fort Wayne FC Park. The new 9,200-seat soccer-specific stadium is scheduled to open May 2, 2026, and will become the largest of its kind in Indiana.
Because construction will not be complete in time for early-season matches, Fort Wayne FC is playing its March and April games on the road. The May opener is expected to mark a major milestone for professional soccer in northeast Indiana.
From college basketball crowds to spring sports anticipation, it’s a busy stretch for Fort Wayne as the city moves from winter weather into a packed spring calendar.
