Elbert County’s 2026 road program includes Simla shop upgrades and county gravel-road work

Elbert County’s 2026 public-works priorities include rebuilding gravel roads, chip sealing county routes and adding fencing around the county’s Simla shop. The county says the program is part of a broader focus on managed growth and protecting rural quality of life.

The listed road work includes gravel-road rebuilding on CR 125, a 2.5-mile rebuild of CR 5 from CR 106 to CR 118, and chip sealing four miles of Delbert Road from CR 166 to East Parker Road. The priorities also include repaving Cimarron Trail.

Simla shop work

The county’s Growth and Development Fund is slated to assist Elbert County Road & Bridge projects and shop upgrades in 2026. The fund description includes fencing around the Simla shop, along with continued upgrades at the Agate shop, fuel tanks and remaining work at the Kiowa shop. A well is also planned for the Kiowa shop.

The road maintenance and facility work is intended to support travel reliability and the county’s ability to provide snow and maintenance services across rural roads. The county has not set a completion date or identified a project-specific dollar amount for the Simla shop improvements. The road projects listed are countywide priorities and are not all within Simla town limits.
