FAA awards Ontario International Airport $7.37 million for north-runway rehabilitation
Ontario International Airport has received a $7,365,632 Federal Aviation Administration grant for runway reconstruction at the Ontario airport, with the airport identifying the work as rehabilitation and improvements to its north runway.
The FAA‘s July 2, 2026 grant listing names Ontario International Airport, or ONT, as the recipient of the award. The federal record describes the project as “Reconstruct Runway” and lists $6,365,632 in entitlement funding plus $1 million in discretionary funding.
What the grant supports
Ontario International Airport announced the award July 22 and said it will fund rehabilitation and improvements to the north runway. The airport said the project is intended to help maintain the airfield’s safety, reliability and efficiency.
The money comes through the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, which funds airport infrastructure projects such as runways, taxiways, signage, lighting and markings. The FAA says discretionary funding can supplement an airport’s regular entitlement funding when capital needs exceed available entitlement funds.
This is airport infrastructure funding, not a passenger fare reduction, parking subsidy or direct consumer payment.
Continuation of ONT runway work
The north-runway project follows completion of a $90 million south-runway rehabilitation at ONT in 2024, according to the airport. Ontario International Airport presented the new award as part of a continuing investment in its airfield infrastructure.
