Library events at Davis County Headquarters

This evening, the Davis County Headquarters Library in Farmington is hosting a free magazine giveaway from 6 to 8 p.m., giving residents a chance to pick up back issues and browse the building after hours. Over the coming week, the library will also offer a family-friendly Valentine’s card activity on Monday night, followed by a relationship class on the “Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work” on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m.

Toward the end of the week, a multi-evening book sale is scheduled to begin Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m., with low-cost books and media supporting ongoing library programs. All of these events are open to the public and are a good option for families looking for close-to-home activities without leaving Farmington.

Farmington swimmers shine at region meet

Farmington High School’s swim teams turned in strong performances at the 6A Region 1 championships held at the South Davis Recreation Center. The girls team finished second overall in the region, powered by a win in the 100-yard backstroke from Elsie Crowell and top-three finishes in multiple relays and individual events. The boys placed third in the team standings, highlighted by victories from Jack Smart in both the 200-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle.

The meet wrapped up a busy regular season and sets Farmington’s swimmers up well for the 6A state championships later this month. For families and classmates, the results are a point of pride and a reminder that winter sports are moving quickly toward their postseason.

Remembering Annette Albertsen

Friends and neighbors are preparing to gather next week to honor Annette Albertsen, a 79-year-old Farmington resident who passed away peacefully on January 23. Born in Denmark and later settling in Utah, she was remembered by her family for her resilience, devotion to her children and grandchildren, and years of work in health care and child care.

A funeral service is planned for Tuesday, February 10, at 6 p.m. at the Farmington 23rd Ward meetinghouse at 1395 South 200 East. Attendees are invited to wear something purple in tribute to her vibrant personality. Those who knew her describe a life marked by service, quiet strength, and deep love for both her Danish roots and her adopted community here in Farmington.
