Ford City Road Bids Reach Deadline; Contract Details Still Pending

Ford City Borough’s July 24 deadline has passed for two advertised road-maintenance contracts, while borough council is scheduled to meet Monday, July 27.
The public notice does not confirm that either contract has been awarded. It also does not identify the streets involved, the bidders, bid amounts, construction start dates or traffic-control plans.
What the borough advertised
The borough issued separate contracts through its office at 1000 Fourth Avenue.
Paving Contract No. 26-03406-001 covers 2,842 square yards of asphalt milling and 426 tons of 19.0mm asphalt binder course placed at a 2.5-inch depth. The notice requires that project to be completed by October 1, 2026.
Chipping Contract No. 26-03406-002 covers 16,884 square yards of double asphalt seal coat. Crack sealing up to one-half inch wide is included as part of that work. The completion requirement for the chipping project is September 15, 2026.
Those dates are completion deadlines, not announced start dates. The borough also listed liquidated damages of $975 per calendar day and reserved the right to reject any or all proposals.
What residents still do not know
For drivers, homeowners and businesses, the most useful details are still pending. The advertisement does not say which roads will be paved or seal-coated, when crews could begin, whether parking restrictions will be needed or whether any detours and lane closures are planned.
Residents should not assume that the projects will affect every road represented by the quantities listed. The notice provides work totals, but not a street-by-street list.
What to watch at the July 27 meeting
Ford City Borough Council is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at BC3 Armstrong, 1100 4th Ave. The meeting is the next documented public opportunity for residents to look for an update on the bids, although the meeting listing does not confirm that the contracts will be discussed or approved.
An award, if considered, would need to be confirmed through the council’s meeting record or by borough officials. The borough’s council and administration information page also lists public-works and management contacts for follow-up questions about project details.
Separate PennDOT work
Ford City also has a separate PennDOT signal-replacement project at the intersection of Route 66, Route 128 and Fort Run Road. That state transportation project is not part of the borough’s paving and seal-coating contracts. PennDOT has described lane restrictions as needed and an anticipated completion in early September.
The next information residents will need is a confirmed contractor, awarded amount, affected street list and construction schedule. Traffic controls and direct notices to nearby residents and businesses will also matter once the borough authorizes work.
