Fort Myers Beach Reopens After Hurricane Ian
Fort Myers Beach has reopened to residents and business owners nearly two weeks after Hurricane Ian’s landfall. Access began on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at 7 a.m., allowing individuals to assess damage and begin recovery efforts. However, essential services such as electricity, water, and waste management remain unavailable, and a 7 p.m. curfew is in effect. Officials caution that many structures are unsafe to enter due to extensive damage from the storm’s surge.

The rebuild follows extensive damage from Hurricane Ian in 2022, prompting the city to pursue a complete teardown and rebuild instead of renovation.
