Fort Worth Daily Local Headlines (March 3, 2026)
Fort Worth, TX – March 3, 2026 – Police investigate a fatal apartment shooting, voters ride Trinity Metro free, and Trinity Flyfest plans return.
Here are the top local headlines Fort Worth residents are waking up to on Tuesday.
1) South Fort Worth apartment shooting ruled a homicide after victim dies
An 18-year-old who was critically hurt in a Feb. 24 shooting at an apartment complex in south Fort Worth has died at the hospital, and the case is now being handled as a homicide. Police were called to the Mirabel apartments in the 6300 block of Woodway Drive and found the victim with a gunshot wound. A suspect was arrested the same day; the death determination could affect what charges prosecutors pursue next.
2) Election Day: free Trinity Metro rides to and from polling places
Getting to the polls should be easier today. Trinity Metro is offering free rides on March 3 for customers traveling to or from a voting location across its local services, including buses, TEXRail, and on-demand options. Riders are being asked to tell the operator they are headed to (or coming from) a polling place to receive the free trip.
3) Trinity Flyfest sets March 14 return to the Clear Fork
Looking ahead, a popular outdoor tradition is set to come back to the river. Trinity Flyfest is scheduled for March 14, running 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. along the Clear Fork near Bryant Irvin Road and River Park Drive. Organizers say the day will include fly-fishing instruction, vendor booths, open fishing opportunities, food, and family-friendly activities.
4) March community calendar: Women’s History Month, food guide, and local music awards
A local arts-and-culture weekly laid out its March lineup, including a Women’s History Month-themed edition, a St. Patrick’s Day section, a late-month food-and-drink guide, and an end-of-month music awards ceremony at a Camp Bowie-area theater. If you follow local happenings through print and neighborhood boards, expect more event announcements to stack up quickly this month.
