Mesa residents had a full slate of community events and city updates over the past few days, from free tax preparation help to public budget meetings and live music across town.

Free Tax Help Draws Residents

The Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program returned to Red Mountain Library on Friday, March 6, offering no-cost tax preparation for qualifying residents. The service supports seniors, people with disabilities and households earning moderate incomes.

City officials encouraged attendees to bring identification and key tax documents. With tax season underway, the event provided welcome relief for many Mesa families looking for in-person guidance.

City Budget Meetings Continue This Week

Mesa’s Fiscal Year 2026-27 budget discussions are moving forward with additional public meetings scheduled this week. After an earlier session on March 4, residents will have more opportunities to weigh in on spending priorities.

A meeting is set for Tuesday, March 10, at The Post downtown, followed by another on Wednesday, March 11, at Gateway Library. The tentative budget is scheduled for adoption in mid-May, with final approval planned for early June.

Concerts and Community Events Fill the Weekend

Local venues were active over the weekend. The Rosetta Room hosted performances on Saturday and Sunday, while the Nile Theater welcomed touring and regional acts on March 6 and 8.

Libraries also kept families engaged with children’s programs, writing workshops and themed activities. From genealogy consultations to youth taste-test challenges, Mesa’s public spaces offered options for all ages.
