Golden Daily: Goldens in Golden, Super Bowl tailgates and Sunday nights out
Golden, CO — February 8, 2026 — Goldens in Golden fills downtown with dogs, local spots prep Super Bowl tailgates, and live music closes out the weekend.
Goldens in Golden fills downtown
Downtown Golden spent Saturday awash in wagging tails as thousands of golden retrievers and their humans packed Washington Avenue for the annual Goldens in Golden celebration. Crowds gathered under the Welcome Arch for group photos, while side streets and plazas turned into pop-up dog parks and selfie spots.
Organizers expanded this year’s footprint with vendor villages, more food options and dog-friendly shuttles from satellite parking, helping keep traffic moving even as visitors arrived from around the country. Local shops leaned into the theme with pup treats, Golden-themed merchandise and patio space reserved for four-legged guests.
The fun stretched beyond the main parade hours. A courtyard “pawrty” at the Foothills Art Center, special hours at Golden Mill and a day-long gathering at Mountain Toad Brewing kept the canine crowds circulating through downtown well into the afternoon and evening.
Super Bowl Sunday, Golden style
Today the focus shifts from dog costumes to football jerseys. Downtown eateries and taprooms are planning their own spin on Super Bowl Sunday, with dog-friendly watch parties and outdoor heaters ready for fans who want to linger outside.
Golden Mill is hosting a tailgate-style event late this morning through the afternoon, pairing big screens and game-day food with a relaxed, family atmosphere. After a Saturday already boosted by dog tourism, business owners say the back-to-back Goldens in Golden and Super Bowl weekend could make this one of the busiest winter weekends of the year.
Arts, music and game night
Saturday’s packed calendar also included live music at multiple venues, from rock tributes at Buffalo Rose to rotating sets at local taprooms. For those who preferred a quieter pace, museums and galleries stayed active with ongoing exhibits and workshops, giving visitors options beyond the dog crowds.
Looking ahead to tonight, Mountain Toad Brewing plans a board game night, offering a low-key option once the final whistle blows. Libraries and community spaces are continuing youth-friendly programming, including tabletop role-playing sessions that run through February.
All told, the last two days have showcased Golden at its most sociable: a small-town main street able to handle national attention, while still feeling like a neighborhood gathering for regulars, visitors and their dogs.
