Greenacres, FL — February 6, 2026 — School zone speed cameras begin enforcement, residents are invited to share input on a key safety project, and family-friendly events highlig…
School Zone Speed Cameras Now Active
Drivers across Greenacres are beginning to notice new digital speed safety cameras operating near two local schools. City officials say the cameras are intended to reduce speeding during school hours and create a safer environment for students, parents, and school staff.
The program includes a brief warning period to help drivers adjust. After that phase ends, speeding violations recorded by the cameras will result in fines. Officials encourage motorists to pay close attention to posted signage and to plan for slightly longer travel times during morning drop-off and afternoon pickup periods.
Residents Invited to Shape Safety and Connectivity Plans
The city is asking for community feedback on a proposed transportation safety and connectivity project that focuses on Bowman Street, Biscayne Drive, and Woodlake Boulevard. The project is part of a broader grant application effort aimed at improving how people move through these areas.
According to city staff, the goals include safer conditions for pedestrians and bicyclists, along with improvements that address existing traffic concerns. A public input meeting is scheduled for early next week, giving residents an opportunity to share ideas, concerns, and priorities before plans advance further.
City leaders say public feedback will play an important role in shaping the proposal and strengthening the overall grant application.
Weekend Community Events Get Families Out
The Greenacres community calendar is full as the weekend gets underway. One highlight is the Daddy Daughter Dance, set for Saturday evening. This year’s Roaring 20s theme promises a night of dinner, dancing, and memories for families.
City staff note that this event is part of a broader lineup of seasonal programming. Additional activities, including outdoor concerts and recreation programs, are expected later this month as the city continues to expand its community offerings.
What’s Coming Up
Looking ahead, city leaders are also encouraging residents to stay engaged through upcoming advisory board meetings and small business discussions planned for later in February. Those interested in local planning, education, or economic topics are encouraged to review meeting agendas and participate when possible.
