Harrison opens bidding for paving on Isabella, Lakeview and Wilson streets

The City of Harrison has opened bidding for a 2026 street project covering Isabella Street, Lakeview Street and Wilson Street.

The project includes paving and related improvements on the three city streets. Contractors must submit bids by 10 a.m. Thursday, July 30, 2026, at Harrison City Hall, 2105 Sullivan Drive.

What is known about the project

The bid notice marks the start of the contractor-selection process. It is not an announcement that construction has begun. The city’s posting identifies the streets and the general work, but the contractor, award amount, construction start date and expected completion date have not been identified.

For residents, drivers and businesses along the three streets, the project could improve pavement and travel conditions if it moves forward. The immediate public milestone is the bid deadline. Until the city selects a contractor and releases a schedule, the timing of paving, any lane closures and other construction effects remain unsettled.

The city has not announced a final project cost. That amount would be established through the city’s later review and award of the work rather than through the initial bid notice.

Separate road project

Harrison also posted as-read bid results for the MDOT Category B Byfield Road Crush & Shape Project. That listing is separate from the city’s three-street paving project.

The Byfield Road project should not be treated as paving on Isabella, Lakeview or Wilson streets. The Clare County Road Commission separately provides county-road information for the Harrison area, including a reference to a 2026 right-of-way herbicide program.

Other city action

Harrison City Council adopted Short-Term Rental Ordinance 2026-02 at its June 1 meeting. The ordinance is effective July 11, 2026.

The ordinance and the street-project bid notice are separate city actions. For the paving work, contractor selection, final cost and construction timing remain the next key details for the public after the July 30 deadline.
