On Thursday evening, January 29, 2026, the Hialeah Police Department responded to a distress call about a robbery in progress at the Cricket Wireless store located at 955 E. Eighth Ave. Upon arrival, officers learned that a man entered the store brandishing a knife, demanding cellphones and money from the safe. The suspect, described as a Black male with a slim build, wearing a ski mask, gloves, and a construction vest, fled north on East Eighth Avenue after the employee complied with his demands.
