High Winds Spark Outages Across the Region

AFMX 2026 Festival Canceled

The Albuquerque Film and Music Experience has announced the cancellation of its 2026 festival. Organizers cited internal challenges in moving forward with this year’s event.

Rio Rancho Grocery Workers Unionize

In nearby Rio Rancho, meat department employees at the Albertsons Market Street store on Unser Boulevard voted unanimously to unionize. The move makes the location the third Albertsons-owned store in the city to join the same labor union.

Workers say the decision is aimed at strengthening workplace protections and securing better working conditions. The vote reflects a broader trend of organizing efforts seen in grocery and retail sectors across the region.

Teen Pleads Guilty in Fatal Shooting

A teenager has pleaded guilty in connection with the fatal shooting of a man during an attempted car break-in in Albuquerque. The case drew attention last year as part of ongoing concerns about auto theft and violent crime.

Court proceedings are continuing, and sentencing is expected at a later date.
