Highlands Ranch Parkway slowdown: Ridgeglen Way closes July 6–9
Douglas County says Highlands Ranch Parkway is down to single lanes between Broadway and Burntwood Way, with delays up to 15 minutes. Ridgeglen Way closes July 6–9.
Douglas County’s Highlands Ranch Parkway reconstruction is already changing commutes between Broadway and Burntwood Way, with traffic shifted into the eastbound lanes so crews can continue construction of the westbound lanes and new signal underground work.
For the week of June 28, drivers should expect single-lane traffic in both directions between Broadway and Burntwood Way. Douglas County asks residents to plan for delays of up to 15 minutes and to use alternate routes when possible.
Upcoming interruption: Ridgeglen Way closure for paving (July 6–9)
Douglas County says Ridgeglen Way will be temporarily closed beginning 6:00 a.m. Monday, July 6, and will reopen 7:00 a.m. Thursday, July 9, for paving and saw cutting operations on Highlands Ranch Parkway.
Paving and saw cutting operations are permitted between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., so nearby residents should expect increased construction noise during those hours. This work is weather dependent and subject to change.
For access to Ridgeglen Way during the closure, the county directs drivers to use Burntwood Way or Southpark Road. The county also says closing Ridgeglen Way helps crews complete paving in a single shift rather than multiple phases, improving pavement quality and shortening the paving schedule by about one week.
Bike and pedestrian trail detour during the Ridgeglen closure window
Construction along the parkway also affects a nearby trail. The bike and pedestrian trail connecting East Highlands Ranch Parkway to Ridgeglen Way (between Burntwood Way and Broadway) is closed during construction of phase 1 of the project.
Douglas County says trail users will be detoured to Burntwood Way via Ridgeglen Way—and urges residents to follow the signed detour for safety.
What residents should do next
- Plan extra time on Highlands Ranch Parkway during the week of June 28, when travel may be slower due to single-lane traffic in both directions.
- Avoid Ridgeglen Way on July 6–9 and use Burntwood Way or Southpark Road instead.
- For walking and biking near the corridor, follow the signed trail detours during the phase 1 trail closure.
Construction phasing and lane/trail configurations can change, so Douglas County recommends checking the continuously updated project page before you head out.
