Irvine Community Updates: Pickleball Courts, Traffic Enhancements, and Free Tax Filing
Irvine, CA — January 31, 2026 — The city introduces new pickleball courts, announces traffic improvements, and offers free tax filing services to residents.
New Pickleball Courts at Mike Ward Community Park
The City of Irvine is set to open eight new pickleball courts at Mike Ward Community Park—Woodbridge. A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, February 3, at 3 p.m., weather permitting. The facility will feature shade structures, picnic tables, benches, and water bottle filling stations. The lighted courts will offer daily drop-in play, reservations, and programs. Traffic Enhancements at Jamboree Road and Main Street
Construction has begun on the Jamboree Road and Main Street intersection to improve traffic flow approaching the I-405 Freeway. The project includes modifications to the alignment and medians, traffic signal system upgrades, Class II bike lanes, and drainage adjustments. Work is scheduled on weekdays from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., with lane closures from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., continuing through August 2026. Free Tax Filing Services for Eligible Residents
The City of Irvine, in partnership with Orange County United Way, is offering free tax preparation services for eligible taxpayers who earned less than $69,000 in 2025. Qualifying individuals who live, work, or attend school in Irvine can receive assistance from IRS-trained and certified volunteers, including help applying for available tax credits such as the state and federal Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC). OC Free Tax Prep is available at Harvard Community Center, 14701 Harvard Avenue, Tuesdays, February 3 through April 7, noon to 6 p.m. Appointments are required.
