La Prada Drive Traffic Pattern Listed Through November in Mesquite

Drivers using La Prada Drive between N. Galloway Avenue and Barnes Bridge Road should expect the current traffic arrangement to remain in place through an estimated November 2026, according to the City of Mesquite‘s updated Road Report.

The traffic change supports utility and paving work on the corridor. Westbound lanes are switched to the eastbound side between N. Galloway Avenue and Barnes Bridge Road, while eastbound traffic operates in a two-way pattern through the affected segment and connects with the existing two-way pattern east of N. Galloway Avenue.

What drivers should expect

The affected limits are La Prada Drive from N. Galloway Avenue to Barnes Bridge Road. The city lists the arrangement as in progress and estimates that it will remain through November 2026. That date is a construction estimate and may change as work advances.

Drivers should follow posted traffic controls, watch for construction signs and allow additional time when using the corridor. The city’s current notice does not provide a measured delay estimate.

Part of a larger reconstruction

The traffic pattern is one phase of a broader La Prada Drive reconstruction covering approximately 1.63 miles from Motley Drive to Pinehurst Lane. Mesquite is undertaking the project in partnership with Dallas County.

Planned improvements include new paving, water and sanitary-sewer utility work, storm-drain facilities, traffic signals, sidewalks, driveways and a shared-use trail. The city’s Road Report lists utility infrastructure work as in progress and estimates broader project completion in early 2028.

The city lists the project’s estimated cost at $34,000,863.59. That broader schedule is separate from the November estimate for the current traffic arrangement; November 2026 is not the projected completion date for the entire reconstruction.

Earlier phase estimate was through July

The city previously listed the adjacent La Prada traffic phase from N. Galloway Avenue to Pinehurst Lane as continuing through July 2026. That was an earlier estimate, not a firm completion deadline. The current notice for the N. Galloway Avenue-to-Barnes Bridge Road segment lists the two-way traffic pattern through November 2026.

Mesquite may revise the traffic arrangement or schedule as utility and paving work progresses. For now, drivers should expect the current pattern to continue into November unless the city posts an updated notice.
