Lexington approves FY27 budget for roads, housing and winter prep
Lexington council approved the FY27 budget June 9, keeping tax rates unchanged and steering city money to roads, housing, parks, safety and winter prep.
Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council gave final approval to the city’s FY27 budget on June 9, setting the spending plan that takes effect July 1. The city says tax rates stay unchanged, giving homeowners, renters and businesses a clearer view of what will — and won’t — change next month.
The adopted budget puts resident-facing services front and center. Lexington highlighted roads and paving, housing, parks, public safety and winter-weather readiness as the main areas of focus in FY27.
For commuters, the roadwork and winter-prep pieces are the most immediate. For families, park users and neighborhood groups, the housing and parks priorities show where city dollars are headed as the new fiscal year begins.
Now that the budget is adopted, the next thing to watch is how quickly departments turn those priorities into projects, schedules and spending decisions residents can actually see.
