Lexington police drew a large response to a shots fired call on Wilderness Road early Friday, with officers, fire units and a drone team on scene near New Circle and Liberty Road. Police later said there were no injuries and no arrests, and the scene was cleared after the subject went into a home and officers attempted to call him out.

On Sunday, a new civic assembly is set to begin meeting in Lexington, bringing together 36 residents selected by lottery to work through big-picture questions about how city government operates. Organizers say the group will focus on topics including urban-county charter review and council member pay, with the goal of producing recommendations that can be shared with local leaders and the public.

Lexington also got a high-profile boost for hunger relief Friday when actors Patrick Duffy and Linda Purl stopped in town tied to a new grocery bakery launch. Alongside the product rollout, a $10,000 donation was presented to God’s Pantry Food Bank, with organizers saying the gift is expected to translate into tens of thousands of meals for families across the region.

At Rupp Arena on Saturday, Kentucky men’s basketball beat No. 25 Vanderbilt 91-77, using pressure defense to generate points off turnovers and pulling away after a dominant first half. The win kept the Wildcats moving in SEC play, with the next game scheduled for Tuesday on the road at Texas A&M.
