Lombard police are urging residents to plan ahead as Super Bowl gatherings pick up this weekend. The department is reminding drivers to use designated drivers, rideshare services, or public transportation if alcohol is involved. Extra patrols are expected across DuPage County, part of a broader regional push to reduce impaired driving during one of the busiest party weekends of the year.

Police officials emphasized that the goal is prevention, not punishment, and encouraged neighbors to look out for one another as celebrations stretch late into Sunday night.

Village Offices Confirm Holiday Schedule

The Village of Lombard has confirmed that municipal offices will remain open for regular business hours on Presidents Day, Monday, February 16. Garbage and recycling collection will also continue on its normal schedule, with no delays tied to the holiday.

Village leaders said the decision helps avoid service disruptions and keeps routine operations moving during a busy winter stretch. Residents planning permit visits, bill payments, or in-person assistance can do so without adjusting their schedules.

Community Blood Drives See Strong Winter Turnout

Local blood drives held in Lombard recently collected 65 pints of blood, a strong showing during National Blood Donor Month. Village officials thanked donors and volunteers, noting that winter can be a challenging time for maintaining blood supplies.

The collected donations are expected to support area hospitals and emergency services in the weeks ahead. Additional blood drives are planned later this winter, with organizers encouraging both first-time and repeat donors to participate.
