The overnight schedule could run up to six weeks, depending on weather, focusing on collecting winter salt, sand, and debris before it washes into storm drains and local waterways.

Hiring: Firefighter/EMT recruitment open houses

Madison Fire is hosting a series of recruitment open houses this spring, including both virtual sessions and in-person station visits. The city says no prior fire or EMS experience is required to apply, and the events are designed for Q&A with current firefighters and EMTs about the job and the application process.

Dates include a virtual session on March 12, an in-person open house March 14 at Station 14, and additional station events later in March. Applications are scheduled to be accepted from April 1 through May 26.
