Man dies after reported stabbing on West Ninth Street in Junction City

A man died after Junction City officers responded to a reported stabbing at about 8:03 p.m. Oct. 11 in the 500 block of West Ninth Street, according to KCLY and KWCH, citing Junction City police. Officers found an adult male with an apparent stab wound, began lifesaving measures and took him to Stormont Vail Flint Hills Hospital, where he died.

Police said in reports published Oct. 12 that people present had been identified and interviewed. The victim’s identity had not been released in those reports; KCLY reported it was being withheld pending family notification. Police said no arrests had been made as of Oct. 12 and there was no ongoing threat to the community at that time.

The investigation was ongoing, and police said the completed case was expected to be sent to the Geary County Attorney’s Office for review of whether charges were appropriate.
