MPS Approves Over 260 Job Cuts

Milwaukee Public Schools will move forward with cutting more than 260 positions following a divided school board vote Monday night. The reductions include assistant principals, support staff and central office roles.

District leaders say some of the affected employees may be able to transition into roughly 180 open teaching positions. Dozens of the eliminated roles were already vacant. The vote came after hours of public comment, much of it from educators who urged the board to reconsider.

The decision marks one of the most significant staffing shifts for the district this year.

New Leadership for Air & Water Show

Milwaukee’s iconic Air & Water Show is entering a new chapter. Organizers announced that Air Show Consultants, led by a retired U.S. Air Force master sergeant, has acquired the event from longtime producer Paul Rogers.

The annual lakefront show draws hundreds of thousands of spectators and provides a midsummer boost for local businesses. The new leadership says it plans to maintain the event’s patriotic focus while preparing for this summer’s performances. Performer announcements are expected later this spring.

Severe Storms Sweep Through Southeast Wisconsin

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch covered Milwaukee County and surrounding areas Tuesday evening as unseasonably warm air collided with a strong system moving through the region.
