Mt Sterling accepts bid and secures $98,000 for Spring Street resurfacing
The Mount Sterling City Council accepted Walker Construction’s bid for the 2026 Street Resurfacing Project on July 21, 2026, and approved a state funding agreement for work on Spring Street.
The council’s action includes approval of Resolution R7-2026, which authorizes a memorandum of agreement with the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. The agreement provides $98,000 in Local Assistance for Rural Projects, or LARP, FD 14 funds for resurfacing Spring Street, identified in the city record as CS-105.
What was approved
The decision brings together two related steps for the city’s 2026 resurfacing program: accepting Walker Construction’s bid and authorizing state transportation funding for the Spring Street project.
The $98,000 is the amount identified in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet agreement. The city’s July 21 council record does not state the dollar amount of Walker Construction’s accepted bid, so the state funding figure is not the same as a confirmed total construction price.
The approval supports resurfacing on Spring Street within Mount Sterling. The project is intended to address pavement conditions, but the council action records approval of the bid and funding rather than stating that construction has started or been completed.
Schedule and traffic information
A construction start date, completion date and traffic-control plan were not included in the council record. Resurfacing work can bring temporary effects for people who use the street, including possible changes around the work area, but the city has not announced specific closures, detours or work hours in connection with this approval.
The action comes during Mount Sterling’s 2026-2027 fiscal year, which runs from July 2026 through June 2027. The city’s official information identifies Mount Sterling as a Kentucky municipality and states that the council approved the budget for that fiscal year.
Next council meeting
The next monthly Mount Sterling City Council meeting was scheduled for Aug. 18, 2026, at 7 p.m. at City Hall. The meeting is the next listed date for residents to follow additional council action involving the resurfacing project or other city business.
