Tampa, FL – March 22, 2026 – March Madness games, a massive youth volleyball tournament and sold-out concerts made for a packed weekend across Tampa.
Tampa is wrapping up one of its busiest March weekends of the year, with college basketball, youth sports and major concerts drawing crowds across the city.
NCAA Tournament Games at USF Arena
The NCAA Division I men’s basketball tournament brought first and second round action to Benchmark International Arena on March 20 and March 22. The University of South Florida hosted the subregional games, turning the arena into a March Madness hub and filling nearby restaurants and hotels with visiting fans.
The nationally televised matchups placed Tampa in the spotlight as part of the tournament’s opening weekend schedule.
March Mayhem Volleyball Takes Over Fairgrounds
Meanwhile, the Florida State Fairgrounds welcomed hundreds of athletes for the March Mayhem volleyball tournament. The multi-day event, held March 21 and 22, featured more than 160 teams competing across 20-plus courts.
Families and teams from across the region packed the Expo and Entertainment Halls, creating steady traffic in East Tampa and boosting business for nearby shops and hotels.
Concert Crowds Fill Area Venues
Live music also played a major role in the weekend rush. 98ROCKFEST lit up The BayCare Sound on March 20, while additional shows across Tampa Bay venues kept stages busy through Sunday.
From arena-sized productions to club performances, the steady stream of events highlights Tampa’s growing reputation as a spring tour stop for major acts.
A High-Impact Weekend for the City
With college sports, youth athletics and large-scale concerts all landing on the same weekend, Tampa saw packed parking lots, full hotel rooms and heavy foot traffic downtown and along the waterfront.
