Newport’s 2026 certified budget totals $251,654 after state review cuts road and capital-development allocations
Newport’s 2026 budget has been certified at $251,654 after the Indiana Department of Local Government Finance reduced the town’s local-road and cumulative-capital-development allocations because projected revenues were not sufficient to support the adopted amounts.
The state issued its budget order for Newport Civil Town on Jan. 14, 2026. The order establishes the town’s authorized 2026 spending, a certified property-tax levy of $47,236 and a certified total tax rate of 0.4686.

The largest certified allocation is $98,525 for the general fund, which supports the town’s main operations. The motor vehicle highway fund is certified at $87,600.
