Oak Ridge schedules rezoning reviews for annexed properties as water project continues

Oak Ridge has scheduled two rezoning requests for annexed properties as the town continues work on a municipal water infrastructure project with a reported budget of $3.265 million.

The town’s public-hearings page lists requests RZ-02 and RZ-03 for review by the Oak Ridge Planning and Zoning Board on July 23, 2026. The requests are scheduled for consideration by the Oak Ridge Town Council on Aug. 6. Water project timeline

The project is intended to provide backbone infrastructure for Oak Ridge’s municipal water system, supporting utility capacity and future growth. The county report says the town finalized engineered construction plans and secured permits from the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality.
