Palm Beach County health officials advise against water-related activities at nine locations, including Sandoway-Delray Beach, after tests completed Oct. 19 found the water did not meet the departmentโs recreational-water criteria for Enterococcus bacteria. The Florida Department of Health in Palm Beach County issued the advisory Oct. 20.
The affected sites are Sandoway-Delray Beach, South Inlet Park, Red Reef Park, Spanish River, Lake Worth-Kreusler, DuBois Lagoon, DuBois Park, Carlin Park and Ocean Cay Park. Sandoway is at the 200 block of A1A, south of Atlantic Avenue, in Delray Beach.
The department cites increased illness risk to swimmers. The recommendation applies to water activities at all nine sites; the notice does not announce that beaches or parks are closed. The advisory remains in effect until bacteria levels are below the accepted health level.
