Pharr budget survey closes Wednesday as commissioners prepare for August spending talks

Pharr residents have until Wednesday, August 5, 2026, to complete the city’s budget-priority survey ahead of expected August work on the next municipal budget.

The survey is limited to people who live in Pharr. It gives residents an opportunity to identify which city services and priorities matter most before city commissioners consider formal budget and spending decisions.

What the survey asks

Respondents must identify the part of Pharr where they live: north, central or south. The survey defines those areas as North, from Owassa Road to U.S. 83/I-2; Central, from U.S. 83/I-2 to Javelina Road; and South, from Javelina Road to Military Highway.

It also asks respondents to select an age group and choose one top priority from five categories:

• Your experience with city services, described as service excellence
• City infrastructure
• Quality of life
• Economic development
• A safe and secure community

The survey is an input tool, not a funding decision. Selecting a priority does not guarantee that the city will fund it or that commissioners will rank it first in the final budget.

Why the deadline matters

KRGV reported on May 18, 2026, that Pharr officials were seeking resident feedback before commissioners were expected to begin work on the next budget in August. City Manager Jonathan Flores said officials wanted to learn what mattered most to residents, including infrastructure, public safety and economic growth.

That makes August 5 the immediate deadline for eligible residents who want to submit their views through the survey. The available evidence does not establish a closing time, so residents should complete it by the stated date rather than wait until the deadline.
