Police Pursuits and Public Safety Updates Lead Recent PSL Headlines
Port St. Lucie, FL – March 22, 2026 – Recent police chases, a stolen vehicle case, and routine siren tests are making headlines across the city.
It has been a busy stretch for law enforcement and public safety officials in and around Port St. Lucie, with several incidents drawing attention over the past week.
Stolen PSL Car Recovered After Multi-County Chase
A vehicle reported stolen out of Port St. Lucie was recovered following a high-speed pursuit that ended in Pensacola on March 17. Deputies say license plate readers flagged the car, and the driver fled before crashing through a backyard and striking a play structure.
Authorities reported that both the vehicle and a firearm found inside had been stolen from Port St. Lucie. Two suspects were arrested and now face multiple felony charges.
Port St. Lucie Man Arrested After BMW Pursuit
In a separate case, a 37-year-old Port St. Lucie man was arrested after allegedly leading Martin County deputies on a reckless chase along U.S. 1 and Interstate 95 earlier this month.
Deputies say the driver accelerated instead of stopping for a traffic stop. The pursuit was ultimately ended using a vehicle intervention technique. No injuries were reported. Authorities said suspected narcotics and drug paraphernalia were found inside the car.
Routine Emergency Siren Tests Spark Questions
Earlier this month, some residents reported hearing emergency sirens and took to social media with concerns. Officials confirmed the alerts were part of a scheduled quarterly test tied to the power plant in St. Lucie County.
City and utility officials regularly announce these tests in advance, and residents can sign up for notifications to stay informed about future drills and emergency alerts.
Public Safety Remains Front and Center
While none of the recent incidents resulted in serious injuries locally, they serve as reminders of the region’s rapid growth and the ongoing work by law enforcement agencies to maintain safety across the Treasure Coast.
