Port St. Lucie police arrested Eric Saint Aude, 60, on Oct. 23 in connection with an Oct. 9 hit-and-run that critically injured a 63-year-old man. Police said Saint Aude was charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury. Investigators are still trying to identify and locate a possible second, southbound vehicle.
The crash happened at about 12:56 a.m. near Northwest University Boulevard and Northwest California Boulevard. The victim, a Port St. Lucie resident, was found unconscious with severe head injuries. Police said he remained in critical condition as of Oct. 23.
On Oct. 22, detectives said they believed two vehicles traveling in opposite directions may have been involved and were seeking both. The next day, police announced Saint Audeโs arrest while continuing to seek a possible southbound vehicle. Police have not established that the possible second vehicle struck the victim, and its identity and role remain unconfirmed. Police said its occupant may have information about the incident.
The charge is an allegation; the arrest does not establish guilt or a conviction.
