City seeks input on hazard mitigation plan

The city is updating its 2026 Hazard Mitigation Plan and is asking residents to help identify the biggest local risks, from severe storms to flooding and ice events.

Officials say the update will guide future investments to protect people, property, and key infrastructure. A public meeting is set for Tuesday, February 18, at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall, 516 E. Grand Ave., where staff will walk through draft findings and take feedback.

Residents can also complete an online survey through the city website in the coming weeks. Participation will help shape which projects rise to the top, including drainage fixes, shelter upgrades, and other resilience work.

Airport terminal project and today’s fly-in breakfast

The regional airport remains a bright spot in local infrastructure planning, with work continuing behind the scenes on a new terminal building to replace the aging facility.

City information highlights the project as a key investment in business travel, aviation jobs, and tourism. The current terminal continues to host the long-running community fly-in breakfast on the first Saturday of each month, inviting the public out for food, aircraft watching, and conversation with pilots.

Breakfast runs from 7 to 10 a.m. this morning at Ponca City Regional Airport, giving residents a chance to see the airfield up close while hearing more about what a new terminal could mean for the community.

Spring clean-up, garage sales and Earth Day on the horizon

Even though it is still February, City Hall is already promoting a slate of spring events. Recent city spotlights preview a citywide garage sale, a spring clean-up effort, and an Earth Day celebration at the RecPlex later this spring.

The garage sale and clean-up campaigns are expected to give neighborhoods a boost ahead of the busy outdoor season, while Earth Day at the RecPlex will focus on family activities and environmental education. Details on dates, registration, and disposal guidelines will be posted on the city’s site as plans are finalized.
