Bolker Park playground closed for equipment upgrade

The playground at Bolker Park is temporarily closed while the city installs updated play equipment. Weather permitting, the closure is expected to last through February 20. Families can still use the surrounding open space, but the play structure itself is fenced off. If you visit, plan on alternative activities like walking paths or open field time until the new equipment is ready.

City now passing through card processing fees

The City of Port Hueneme has begun passing credit card, debit card and e-check processing fees directly to customers for most payments, including utilities and permits. The change, which took effect January 16, is meant to keep general taxpayers from covering the cost of card transactions. Residents who want to avoid the extra charges can still pay by cash, check or money order at City Hall, use bank-linked auto-pay, or drop off checks in the payment box outside.

Port advances Wharf 2 dredging and berth improvements

The Port of Hueneme has released a Notice of Intent and draft environmental study for its North Terminal Berth Deepening and Wharf 2 Improvements project. The plan would deepen and improve portions of the working waterfront to handle cargo more efficiently while managing environmental impacts through mitigation measures. Agencies, organizations and residents will have a window to review the study and submit comments before the port commission considers final approvals.

After a National Fine Arts showcase Thursday evening at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme, local youth programs head into a quieter weekend. On the waterfront, Navy reservists continue to support cargo loadouts tied to the Operation Deep Freeze resupply mission, underscoring the city’s close ties to Naval Base Ventura County.
