Queen Creek Breaks Ground on Police Headquarters; Road Closure Set
Queen Creek broke ground June 8 on a new Queen Creek Police Department headquarters near Ellsworth Road, a project designed to expand police capacity as the town grows. The construction will also bring a long-term road closure near the site.
Crewse Lane between Summers Place and Ellsworth Road was scheduled to close beginning June 10. Construction is currently expected to continue until 2028, meaning drivers and nearby residents should expect the closure to remain in place for an extended period.
A growth-funded public safety project
The growth-related portion of the headquarters project is $21 million. The town said that portion is funded through police impact fees and dedicated construction sales tax paid by new development.
Queen Creek said the headquarters is intended to meet the Police Departmentโs current and future public-safety needs. The facility is also expected to eliminate the need for additional police substations as the community expands.
The headquarters will supplement the recently opened Public Safety Support Facility. It has not been described as an operational facility yet; the groundbreaking marks the start of construction.
Budget and timeline
The Town Council later approved an $840.6 million fiscal 2026/27 budget that took effect July 1, 2026. The town said the budget fully funded the police headquarters as a multiyear project, with headquarters costs carrying forward until completion. The budget also dedicated 56% of spending to infrastructure.
The townโs construction estimate runs through 2028, but the announcement did not provide a final completion date. The immediate practical change for residents is the planned Crewse Lane closure between Summers Place and Ellsworth Road, while the longer-term goal is a centralized headquarters built to serve Queen Creekโs current and future police needs.
