Fire Weather Watch and Red Flag Warning

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Fire Weather Watch through Sunday evening, with a Red Flag Warning in effect for parts of central and eastern New Mexico.

Strong winds with gusts up to 50 mph and humidity levels in the single digits are creating critical fire conditions. Officials are urging residents to avoid outdoor burning and use extra caution with anything that could spark a fire.

Governor Signs Medical Malpractice Reform

On Friday, Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham signed a package of health care bills into law, including changes to the state’s medical malpractice system. Supporters say the reforms are designed to stabilize insurance costs and improve access to care, particularly in rural and underserved areas.

The signing took place alongside lawmakers and health advocates as part of a broader push to address provider shortages and expand behavioral health services statewide, including in the Albuquerque metro.
