It is shaping up to be an eventful start to the week in Madison, with unseasonably warm weather, a busy downtown arts calendar and the latest lottery results drawing attention.

Near-Record Warmth to Start the Week

Southern Wisconsin is seeing a surge of springlike air Monday, with highs in Madison expected to reach the upper 60s. That puts the city within striking distance of the March 9 record high of 66 degrees, set in 1977.

The mild weather is being driven by a strong southwest flow ahead of a cold front. Changes are on the way, however. Rain and possible thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday evening, followed by cooler air that could mix with snow later in the week.

Full Week of Arts and Entertainment

Downtown Madison is heading into a lively stretch for arts fans. A new weekly roundup highlights concerts and performances running March 9 through March 12, including live music at The Annex and a high-energy performance by Drum TAO at the Capitol Theater.

Looking ahead, the Overture Center for the Arts will host Back to the Future: The Musical from March 10 through March 15. The touring Broadway production brings the classic film to the stage with special effects and familiar songs, adding to an already busy March events calendar.
