Public safety: shots-fired call leads to barricade arrests

Reno police say two people were taken into custody after a ‘shots fired’ report on Saturday afternoon led officers to a home on Denslowe Drive. Authorities described the situation as a barricade inside the residence, and the investigation remained active as of Sunday evening.

Neighbors in the area were told there was no ongoing danger to the public once the arrests were made. Police have not yet released the names of those arrested or additional details about what triggered the initial call.

Early-morning crash turns into DUI, drug, and weapon allegations

In another weekend case, a crash near Sun Valley Boulevard early Sunday morning ended with a Reno man booked on suspicion of impaired driving and additional felony allegations. Deputies said the driver was arrested after an investigation at the scene and that no injuries were reported.

The listed charges include a second-offense DUI, suspected controlled-substance possession, and a weapon-related count. Deputies also noted multiple DUI arrests across the county over the weekend as enforcement teams focused on impaired driving.

Separately, Reno police are pushing education-focused presentations aimed at helping residents and local businesses recognize warning signs of human trafficking and report concerns. Police say Reno’s location along major travel corridors and its large event calendar can make the region attractive to traffickers moving victims across state lines.

Officials encouraged organizations interested in hosting trainings to contact the department’s human-exploitation team, and they also pointed residents to national resources for tips and victim assistance.
