I-43 resurfacing project begins in Sheboygan County
Work is now underway on a major stretch of I-43 in Sheboygan County, starting with tree clearing and right-of-way fencing. Transportation officials say longer-term lane closures are expected as structure work begins mid-March, with additional ramp and bridge closures planned later this year.
The project covers about 10 miles of I-43, running from the Wilson and Lima Road area north to WIS 42, passing through the city of Sheboygan and the village of Kohler.
School district to take public input on sale of Washington Elementary land
The Sheboygan Area School District is scheduling public comment on the proposed sale of roughly 2.93 acres at Bell Avenue and North 13th Street. The land previously served as outdoor space for Washington Elementary, which has since been converted into the Washington School Apartments.
District officials say they have received proposals from Flawless Hoops, Gorman and Company, and Habitat for Humanity Lakeside, and want community feedback before a decision is made.
Weekend barn fire destroys building and equipment in the Town of Mosel
A weekend fire in Sheboygan County destroyed a barn and the equipment inside, with nearby vehicles also damaged. Responders were called around 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 28, to a location on County Road Y. No injuries were reported, and the cause had not been released.
