Sheridan adopts 2026 Transportation Master Plan to guide future infrastructure priorities
Sheridan has adopted its 2026 Transportation Master Plan, creating a framework for future decisions about roads, pedestrian facilities, bicycle improvements and traffic projects as the city grows.
The approved record dates the city’s adoption to March 2, 2026. The plan followed a public-hearing and Sheridan City Council review process. A March 1 report said the council was scheduled to hold a public hearing on a resolution adopting the plan; the City of Sheridan Engineering Department now identifies the 2026 Transportation Master Plan Final Report as adopted.
What the plan is intended to do
The master plan is a planning document rather than confirmation that particular projects have been funded or begun. Its purpose is to provide a framework for transportation investments and future infrastructure priorities.
That framework could shape how Sheridan evaluates future road, pedestrian, bicycle and traffic projects. It may also help the city prepare future grant applications, although the available materials do not identify which projects would be submitted or when applications might be made.
The council agenda report said recent population growth helped drive development of the plan. For commuters, people walking or biking, residents who rely on local streets and businesses moving goods or serving customers, the plan establishes a citywide basis for future transportation decisions. It does not, by itself, change current traffic patterns or establish a new tax.
Funding coordination remains a later step
Sheridan’s Engineering Department says it works with local and state agencies to secure project funding. The department identifies Wyoming State Revolving Fund and Mineral Royalties Grant resources among the funding sources it coordinates.
Adoption gives the city a guiding document for that work, but the approved source packet does not provide project-level cost estimates, a construction schedule, a list of funded improvements or a deadline for implementation. It also does not specify the council vote date beyond the March 2 adoption date recorded for the event.
For now, the material change is the adoption of the plan itself. Specific transportation work will require additional city action, funding decisions or grant steps before residents can know which improvements will move forward.
