Shreveport police charge man in Mansfield Road double homicide

Shreveport police say Lesabian Thomas was arrested Oct. 8, 2026, and charged with two counts of second-degree murder in connection with the Sept. 12 shooting deaths of David Young and LaJames Smith. The department says the investigation remains ongoing.

Police say officers responded at about 12:09 a.m. to 6518 Mansfield Road, where they found Young and Smith with gunshot wounds inside a white BMW. The car had crashed into a vacant bowling-alley building, according to police.

In the department’s account of surveillance footage, the BMW crashed and a gray SUV arrived about 40 seconds later. Police say an unidentified person got out, fired multiple rounds into the BMW, returned to the SUV and fled north on Hearne Avenue. The charges are allegations, not a finding of guilt.
