Spring Training Returns to Salt River Fields

Baseball fans are filling the stands Monday as the Seattle Mariners face the Arizona Diamondbacks at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. First pitch is set for late morning, and the matchup adds to the steady stream of Cactus League action drawing visitors across the Valley.

With spring visitors boosting hotel stays and local restaurant traffic, the annual tradition continues to be a major seasonal driver for Scottsdale businesses.

Stargazers Gather at Pinnacle Peak Park

On Sunday night, families and amateur astronomers headed to Pinnacle Peak Park for a community Astronomy Talk hosted in partnership with the city. Led by a NASA Solar System Ambassador, the program guided attendees through visible planets, star clusters and desert night sky highlights.

The event offered an accessible introduction for beginners, with telescopes set up in the parking area and no hiking required. Clear conditions made for ideal viewing as participants learned more about the constellations overhead.

Young Athletes Take the Spotlight

Earlier in the weekend, Scottsdale Gymnastics hosted its Advanced Junior Gymnastics Showcase on March 7. The event gave students the chance to perform individual routines in front of family and friends inside the Shea Boulevard facility.

Organizers say the showcase is designed to celebrate months of training in a supportive setting, giving parents a close-up look at their athletes progress.

With packed ballparks, outdoor programming and youth events, the first full weekend of March reflected the active, family-focused energy Scottsdale is known for this time of year.
