Stockton Measure W panel reviews proposed $15.5M budget before June hearings
Stockton’s Measure W committee meets May 28 at 3:30 p.m. in City Hall to review a proposed FY 2026-27 public safety tax plan before June hearings.
Stockton’s Measure W Oversight Committee meets Thursday, May 28, at 3:30 p.m. in the Council Chamber at City Hall to review the city’s proposed FY 2026-27 Measure W budget before June hearings.
City staff projects $15.5 million in Measure W revenue next fiscal year. The plan sets aside $8.3 million for police and $10.2 million for fire.
The budget materials say the fund will continue supporting 24 police officers and 31 firefighters. Police spending is aimed at salaries, benefits and equipment for Field Operations patrol staff, while fire funding helps cover personnel at Fire Company No. 3 in southeast Stockton, Fire Company No. 4 in central Stockton and Fire Company No. 13 in northeast Stockton.
The review comes after the city manager released Stockton’s broader FY 2026-27 proposed annual budget on May 15 and before council study sessions scheduled for June 2 and 3.
This is a review step, not a final budget decision. For residents, the key questions are how much Measure W revenue Stockton expects, how the city divides it between police and fire, and whether council changes any numbers before adoption.
