Weekend wrap: arts on the river
Downtown’s Gasparilla Festival of the Arts has announced this year’s award recipients after reviewing work from more than 250 artists. Organizers said a total of $92,000 in prizes were awarded, including a $15,000 Best of Show.
If you walked the festival this weekend, this is the post-event moment where the juried results land and the winners’ list starts making the rounds—always a useful snapshot of what rose to the top across mediums.
Sports: Lightning cooled off at home
Tampa Bay’s 10-game home winning streak ended Saturday night with a 6–2 loss to Buffalo. The game tilted early, and Tampa Bay made a goaltending change in the second period. The team heads out on the road next.
Skywatch: total lunar eclipse early March 3
If you’re hoping to catch the year’s only total lunar eclipse, the timing is tight for Florida. The darkest “Blood Moon” phase is expected close to sunrise on March 3, which could make the best viewing window brief depending on your horizon and cloud cover.
