UC Davis closes ARC Lot 25 for safety work through Sept. 11
UC Davis will close ARC Parking Lot (Lot 25) from June 15 through Sept. 11, 2026, with changes aimed at separating vehicle and bike/ped routes.
UC Davis is closing its ARC Parking Lot (Lot 25) from June 15 through Sept. 11, 2026 as part of an access and safety project in the busy ARC gateway area.
During the closure window, UC Davis directs drivers to park at the Pavilion Parking Structure, and it points riders and walkers to UC Davis’s Big Shift detours map for day-to-day changes affecting bike and pedestrian movement.
What’s closing: ARC Parking Lot (Lot 25)
UC Davis Campus Recreation lists the ARC parking lot closure dates as June 15–Sept. 11, 2026 and identifies the Pavilion Parking Structure as the alternative parking location during the project.
Why it’s closing: clearer, separated paths for multiple modes
UC Davis Design and Construction Management says the current ARC entrance area can be hard to navigate because vehicles, bicyclists, micromobility users, and pedestrians converge in a compact space.
Planned improvements are intended to separate those travel paths more clearly, including a two-lane vehicle entry, a separated bike lane, improved pedestrian crossings between Segundo Dining Commons, the ARC, and the parking lot, plus updates to nearby bike connections.
UC Davis also lists additional work such as:
- a redesigned entrance
- new crossings and updates to the existing bike roundabout
- additional bike parking near the ARC
- new pedestrian lighting, landscaping, irrigation, paving, and striping
UC Davis describes the project area as including Lot 25 plus nearby roadway and bike infrastructure such as Orchard Road, La Rue Road, Blue Ridge Road, and the Sprocket Bikeway.
Bike and pedestrian detours around the ARC area
UC Davis’s Big Shift detours hub lists active closures and reroutes that run alongside the ARC Lot 25 work period:
- Sprocket Bikeway near Regan Hall Circle (June 15 to July 10, 2026): portions are closed to through traffic, and bike and pedestrian traffic is directed to go around the closure and reconnect via Lot 25 (the parking lot near the ARC).
- Segundo Services Center and bike paths (June 15 to Aug. 21, 2026): portions are closed to bike and pedestrian traffic, and riders/walkers are told to use alternate routes to avoid closures.
For specific segments, routes, and temporary turn-by-turn guidance, UC Davis says to use the interactive Big Shift detours map and follow posted signage in the area.
Parking and commute planning tip
With the closure window underway, UC Davis encourages drivers to plan on parking at the Pavilion Parking Structure instead of Lot 25. If you need to access the ARC area on foot or by bike, expect that your walking/biking path may be longer or different than usual—especially during peak summer activity—and confirm guidance in Big Shift before you head over.
In addition, Sacramento Bee reports that six accessible parking spaces near the ARC entrance will remain available throughout construction.
