Union cooling center opened July 1-2 at Town Office
Union’s Town Office meeting room at 567 Common Road was open July 1-2 as a cooling center with air conditioning, seating, restrooms, and a reminder to bring snacks and water.
The Town of Union opened a cooling center at the Town Office meeting room on Wednesday and Thursday, July 1-2, 2026, giving residents a place to get out of the heat for the day.
The space was set up in the meeting room at the back of the building at 567 Common Road and was open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. The town said the room offered air conditioning, seating, and restrooms.
PenBay Pilot reported that visitors were asked to bring their own snacks and water. That made the setup a short-term comfort option rather than a full emergency shelter, but still a practical one for residents who needed a break from hot weather.
The Town of Union’s homepage carried the notice, and the town office location page confirms the address at 567 Common Road. Because the notice was limited to July 1 and 2, it should not be treated as an ongoing cooling-center offer unless the town posts a new update.
