Foodie February focuses on sweet treats

Week two of the community’s Foodie February promotion starts today, shifting the spotlight to desserts and other sweet treats across Johnson County restaurants. Participating spots are planning special featured items and limited-time deals through February 14, giving residents plenty of reasons to explore local menus while supporting independently owned eateries.

The monthlong promotion is organized to encourage people to dine out repeatedly during February, with each week built around a different theme. After this week’s dessert focus, later weeks will highlight appetizers, shareable plates, and new entrées.

Downtown wraps up Valentine’s weekend events

Downtown Warrensburg is coming off a busy Saturday, with I Heart Downtown Day bringing shoppers into locally owned businesses for prize drawings and stamp-card giveaways. Visitors could collect stamps by visiting and buying from participating storefronts, with completed cards entered to win a basket of local merchandise and gift cards.

Nearby, a Valentine-themed vendor fair drew home-based and small businesses together for a daylong market. The emphasis across both events was on shopping small, meeting local makers, and keeping holiday spending close to home.
