Williston water-line project advances with $2.17 million state revolving-fund plan

Williston has moved its West Street-to-Springfield Road Water Line project through the bidding stage, with state records outlining an estimated $2,166,753 project and $2 million in anticipated principal-forgiveness assistance through the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund.

The town’s bid solicitation closed July 21, 2026, after opening June 18. The planned work includes 2,485 feet of 10-inch water line, 3,163 feet of 8-inch line and 456 feet of 6-inch line. It also calls for 170 feet of 16-inch steel casing, 180 feet of 12-inch casing and approximately 460 square yards of sidewalk work.

South Carolina Department of Environmental Services records list the project under Williston’s water system and identify a service and affected population of 2,877. The anticipated principal forgiveness could reduce local borrowing costs if the financing is finalized, but the state figures are estimates rather than a final contract amount. The bid listing described an expected three-month project duration, which is not a confirmed construction schedule.

Williston has not publicly identified a winning contractor, final bid amount or construction start date. The next known public milestone is an award and construction schedule; neither has been announced.
