Hotdish Fest warms up the Old Armory

Williston’s weekend centerpiece is the Second Annual Hotdish Festival, bringing a full slate of casseroles and comfort food to the Old Armory this afternoon.

Cooks have been prepping all week, including competitors like Albert Falcon, who is serving an elotes-inspired hotdish and says the event is as much about creativity and community as it is about food.

The festival is organized by the Williston Downtowners Association and runs today at the Old Armory, with tickets sold at the door for adults. Attendees can sample multiple dishes, vote for favorites and enjoy a social afternoon out of the cold.

Downtown tonight: music, flavor and nightlife

After the hotdish pots are empty, downtown stays busy. Great Northern is hosting its “Best of the Basin” Battle of the Bands this evening, giving local groups a chance to play a full stage show in front of a hometown crowd.

On the same block, Taste of Havana adds a warmer note to the winter night, pairing Latin-inspired food, drinks and music for those looking to make an evening of it.

Sports and community around town

On the ice, the State Mixed curling event is underway through the weekend at the Williston Curling Club, drawing teams from around the region for three days of games.

For a quieter Saturday, the Missouri-Yellowstone Confluence Interpretive Center is hosting its “Reading on the Frontier” book club, connecting local readers with stories from the region’s history just west of town.

Looking ahead to Sunday, the Williston Korner Lions Club is serving a Super Bowl Sunday pancake and sausage breakfast at First Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall on Main Street, with proceeds supporting local projects and vision programs.
