Dangerous cold and recent snow create tricky travel

Lake County is under cold weather alerts today following several inches of snow and strong winds on Friday. Wind chills around Willoughby are expected to dip well below zero this morning, making frostbite possible on exposed skin in a short time.

Roads may still be slick in spots from blowing and drifting snow overnight, especially on bridges, side streets, and open stretches near the lake. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra stopping distance, and give plow and salt trucks plenty of room to work.

Willoughby-Eastlake Public Library locations are joining a national celebration with kid friendly activities starting today. Families can stop in this week to make bracelets, with each branch offering a different charm to collect while supplies last.

The event runs February 7 through 14, giving parents and caregivers multiple chances to visit, pick up books and movies, and learn more about early literacy programs, story times, and digital resources.
