It has been a busy and at times sobering weekend across the Las Vegas Valley, with weather alerts, a fatal freeway crash and a heartbreaking hotel tragedy drawing attention.

Wind Advisory Brings Gusts Up to 50 MPH

A strong cold front moved through Southern Nevada late last week, prompting a wind advisory that stretched into Saturday night. Forecasters reported gusts reaching up to 50 mph in parts of the valley, with daytime highs dipping into the mid-60s.

Drivers of high-profile vehicles were urged to use caution, and residents were reminded to secure loose outdoor items. Warmer temperatures are expected to return in the days ahead, with 70s and even low 80s possible next week.

Deadly Crash Shuts Down I-215

Nevada State Police are continuing to investigate a deadly early morning crash on southbound I-215 near Ann Road in the northwest valley. The collision happened around 6:10 a.m. Wednesday and forced a full shutdown of lanes as crews cleared the scene.

At least one person was pronounced dead after being transported to University Medical Center. Authorities have not yet released the victim’s identity as they work to notify family members. Commuters faced significant delays during the closure.

Mother, Daughter Found Dead in Strip Hotel

Police are also investigating an apparent murder-suicide involving a mother and her preteen daughter at a hotel near the Las Vegas Strip. The pair were reportedly in town for a cheer competition and were found deceased in their room after family members raised concerns.

Investigators said evidence at the scene pointed to a murder-suicide. The Clark County Coroner will release official findings and identities following notification of next of kin.
