Woodville candidates have until Aug. 17 to file for mayor and three alderman positions

Woodville’s candidate filing period for the Nov. 3, 2026, municipal election remains open, with applications due by 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 17. The filing period began July 18, according to the city’s election information and the Texas Secretary of State’s calendar for the statewide uniform local election.

Four city offices or terms are listed: mayor, an unexpired Alderman Place 1 term ending in 2027, Alderman Place 2 and Alderman Place 4. The City of Woodville identifies Amy Bythewood as mayor, with that term expiring in 2026. It lists Morgan Tucker Hoskins as the appointed Place 1 officeholder, Kelly Dillard as the Place 2 officeholder and Mike Cabaniss as the Place 4 officeholder.

The city has not published a final candidate roster or confirmed which of the listed races will be contested. That means voters do not yet have a complete field of candidates for the November election.

After regular filing closes, local write-in declarations are due Aug. 21. Early voting is scheduled for Oct. 19 through Oct. 30 at the Tyler County Nutrition Center, 201 Willow Street, Woodville. Election Day is Nov. 3.
